Welcome to the History Re-enactment Workshop Web site! Kelmarsh, Cliveden and Sir John Deane's College events will be updated shortly Thank You to all the brave souls that fought through the icey winds to visit the Chiltern Open Air Museum. The Scene photos are now available. We want you to find out what we do, why we do it, and where we've done it before! Here you'll find details of who is in the HRW, pictures of us in action, and details of where you can see us at forthcoming events. |

Our new "Scene" allows us to take a small period scene, dress it and you according to your wishes to represent who you are or want to be, and then capturing it with a camera. If you have already taken part, we may already have a photo of you. To find these use the events list on the left. |

Chiltern Open Air Museum Our first "Scene" of the year, and our first time to the muesum. Unfortunately the weather was against us, but a handful of people visited the museum and hopefully enjoyed the event more than just warming themselves against the fire. Luckily we were within one of the buildings rather than our marquee.

2007 Events Another year with a busy calendar. Although we haven't had any re-enactments in their natural settings, we have found new ways to bring history to life to meet our sponsor's needs and pass it on to our visitors.
If you think that you used to be on our list and have not received the Events list, or would like to be added to our mailing list then follow the link to Futher Information.

Festival of History, Kelmarsh Hall, is English Heritage's national multi period event. The first time the event was held at Kelmarsh, we introduced Thomas Hanbury, owner of Kelmarsh Hall in 1695, entertaining his family in the garden. Unfortunately 2 days of rain made us reconsider the merits of the family picnic, and we brought "The Scene" to Kelmarsh in 2006.
2007 however, armed with a new tent, Thomas Hanbury decided to take his cousin hunting, followed by a hunting breakfast under canvas. Aided by the weather, this was a great success, enhanced by our impromptu walkabouts by the gentry, taking to the visitors about life in 1695.

Cliveden House, Maidenhead. Another multi-period event, set in the grounds of the hall, which is currently a hotel. With the aid of our mini-marquee tent, we again took everyone away from a tent in a field, to a London Coffee House in 1695.
There we find the Mistress serving drinks from within her booth, and a variety of Gents drinking coffee, smoking pipes, reading the newspaper and discussing life and business. We then took this a step further by inviting individual visitors to join the gents at the table for a drink and join in the conversation, and question them on life in the late Seventeenth Century.

Sir John Deane's College, Northwich. To help the College celebrate the 450th anniversary of its founding, HRW created 2 separate events. The first was solely for the pupils, which consisted of members becoming a variety of street traders selling their wares amongst the pupils. The following day, the college was opened up to the local community. Although a few centuries too late, a Victorian classroom became the hall in a 16th Century home. There, local parish leaders and family of Sir John Deane discussed the arrangements for the founding of a school and the setting up of a Trust to fund it.

The Scene. The repertoire is now extended to cover the Tudor period as well, and was very successfully carried out at the Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum. Set within a panelled room with stone mullioned windows, we always take the pictures using the natural light, rather than flash, to bring a softer look to the images.
